The Training Department in Rare Global Programs developed education programs, including a masters degree in communication, to empower environmental professionals around the world to design and launch social impact marketing campaigns. As Rare continued to grow, it needed to have all programmatic staff at the same knowledge and capacity level in behavior change theory and social impact marketing.

We came up with the SOCIAL MARKETING ACADEMY, a six-day, hands-on social marketing boot camp covering all aspects of a social marketing campaign from identifying target audiences to campaign launch. We had over 50 participants, divided into ten teams of five, and each team was tasked to produce a social impact marketing campaign based on changing behaviors in work offices. I was a principal instructional designer for the six-day workshop, and was responsible for the media production schedule and deliverables. My primary focus were the marketing and media days, where each teams would meet with a graphic designer and a radio producer to create marketing products for their campaigns.
